Ah, yes. The holidays are upon us. And along with the holidays come the holiday boutiques. Last Saturday I had all of my purses, jewelry and some really cool Ed Hardy watches at the boutique at my home church. It was a very successful day for me. Many of the purses sold, some of the jewelry and all of the watches.
However, I still have quite a few handbags available. Every single bag has been marked down to my cost and some are priced even below my wholesale cost. It's a perfect time to shop for that new purse for you or as a gift for a friend or loved one.
Below is a picture a friend of mine took of all of my jewelry. Of course there is a lot of stuff in the background, but it will give you a bit of an idea of what I have on hand. Click on the picture for a slightly larger view. Once I'm done with all of the boutiques (and getting rid of a cold I've had for over 2 weeks) I will continue to photograph each jewelry set to post spec pages for them.
Something I am working on right now is trying to teach myself how to solder. I've fallen in love of those darling little miniature window box charms I've seen from my friend who is a stylist for Jewel Kade. I'll post some samples when I get the soldering technique down and have some finished charms to show.
OK, that's it for now. Lots to do. Hope you all are having a blessed holiday season so far. Blessings,

Ever heard of "Steampunk"? I hadn't until today when I opened a newsletter from www.HowToTVOnline.com The latest video on their home page, which I viewed today, is about "Steampunk" jewelry. Having never heard of it before, I decided to "Google" "define Steampunk". Here's a brief definition of the style. "The term denotes works set in an era or world where steam power is still widely used - usually the 19th century, and often Victorian era England - but with prominent elements of either science fiction or fantasy." For the full definition that this except came from, click here.
Being a bit of a fashion history buff, I found this idea interesting so I "Googled" to see examples of Steampunk" jewelry. I have to admit I was almost scared off from looking into it very far. I found a fair amount of listings of various artists who create Steampunk jewelry. Some of those links lead me to learn about some pretty unusual people who's entire lifestyle and persona is based on this style. These artists lean more toward the Punk part of the style, including Goth and New Age images such as scarab's, skulls, demons, crows, etc. This was definitely a turn off for me as a born again, bible believing Christian, because of what these images represent. But, I decided to look at some Ebay listings of Steampunk art. Quite a lot of it was more toward the Victorian style, which was much more to my liking.
Then I opened a newsletter from "Pizazz Beads" who's designer coincidentally shared her latest Steampunk creation, which was not Punk or Goth or New Age (except one piece with a huge quartz crystal). I really like this designer's work. Click here to see her Steampunk necklaces.
So now that I have discovered this genre of jewelry design, I know why I've been saving a lot of bits and pieces that my husband thinks is trash. And I know what I can do with these trinkets. I'm looking forward to creating some of my own Steampunk pieces, leaning heavily toward the Victorian and far away from Punk, Goth, New Age or anything similar. Check back sometime soon to see what I've come up in the way of Steampunk designs.
